Australia's first University Sporting Museum

Since the formation of Macquarie University, sport has played an integral part in its development and created the foundations of one of Australia's leading Universities.

Starting out with only nine sporting clubs, and annual budget of $12,000, a one room gym and two squash courts*, we have come a long way to get where we are today. With the opening of the state-of-the-art Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre which includes a 50 metre outdoor pool, a 25 metre indoor pool, six squash courts and 14 sporting clubs, we are undoubtably leading the way in University Sport.

"Competing for Australia at the Olympic Games was the most honourable experience of my life. A small percentage of Australians get to represent Australia at anything, and an even a smaller percentage gets to represent Australia at the most prestigious sporting event in modern history."

Joel Milburn - Athletics; Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, London 2012 Olympic Games

Acknowledging the Success Stories

In early 2008 the Macquarie University Sporting Hall of Fame was conceptualised by Macquarie University Sport to highlight the past and present successes in sport at Macquarie. It is our vision to instil a sense of pride and endowment in the Macquarie University community.
